PORTSMOUTH — As he embarked almost by accident on a second career, Robert Barmore wanted to do something big. Barmore and his wife, Susan, have begun stepping up the entrepreneurial ladder with what he calls a “game-changing” technology to turn concrete slabs into energy producers.
Therma-HEXX LLC is their recently formed company, and though its equally new product, ThermaPaver, is barely out of prototype stage, the company already has garnered attention and assistance from a number of quarters. Last week, it was one of six New Hampshire companies chosen for assistance by the Green Launching Pad at the University of New Hampshire, an incubator for emerging alternative energy companies. And the Barmores spent three days in a special exhibition section for innovators at the annual American Institute of Architects convention in New Orleans.
